Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Cole S — 10 Dec 2007

Here's the first sentence off the back of the DVD: "John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton lead an all-star cast in this hilarious and unpredictable thriller that critics are calling 'very funny stuff'." Now, there are quite a few things wrong with this sentence that I'd like to point out.

First off, this movie does have an all-star cast, which is really only one of the good things it actually does. It really isn't hilarious, contrary to what the DVD box would have you believe. I did find it unpredictable at times, but hardly a "thriller" as they call it. I really don't know what the critics were smoking when they called it "very funny stuff" cause I sure didn't find myself laughing a whole lot.

I don't know what I should really say about this movie apart from the fact that if you're at the rental store to really avoid it for your own benefit. The story is stagnant and goes nowhere, the acting is wooden, the actors were definetly not used to their full potential and there weren't really any laughs to be found. Just do yourself a favour and avoid this movie.
