Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Craig G — 19 Jun 2008
John Cusack has to be the most sympathetic leading man of the past 25 years, so it's really a treat to see him as the centerpiece in this noirish black comedy. Billy Bob Thornton easily captures the audience for the time that he's on screen (only about 15 minutes overall) and Oliver Platt is great mainly because he provides such a bombastic performance that allows Cusack to play a wonderful straight man.
Quite a predictable plot, and the grim cynicism of the film is probably what kept it form being a critical or box office success.
