A dark, immensely entertaining comic noir that is bound to become a minor Christmas classic. Ramis brings the Coen's Fargo to mind while still crafting something very much hs own. I'll watch John Cusack in just about anything, and he is in prime dark/depressed/sarcastic mode here.
Billy Bob Thornton and Oliver Platt are both great as well, and Randy Quaid has a very funny scene near the end. Connie Nielson's femme fatale isn't as convincing or fun as the guys' performances though; she looks pretty enough, but she reads her lines in a way that lets you know fom the moment she opens her mouth she is a cold, heartless villain, and that spoils some of the film.
