Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Jennifer B — 26 Mar 2009
I skipped this one in the theaters but I picked up the DVD from Movie Gallery at one of their buy 3 for $25 and it turned out to be a GOOD movie!
The ending is really cool and something of a surprise. This isn't one of those cutesy John Cusack movies with a lot of fluff. He plays a mob lawyer who steals from a gangster. Billy Bob Thornton plays an unsavory jerk who goes partners with Cusack in the crimes. Although a lot of scenes occur in strip bars, "The Ice Harvest" isn't a gritty, grubby movie, but most of the characters are slimballs, even the ones that the Cusack hero believes are his true friends. Lots of twists and turns and humor. Oliver Platt is a blast!
