Review of The Ice Harvest (2005) by Stefán Birgir S — 19 Jun 2010
One of the most underrated movies of all time, bar none. While slightly a ripoff of Coen brothers pictures, for some reason I have always PREFERRED this over the overtly "jokey" tone of those films.
John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton play two sleazy businessmen in a small Kansas town who rip off ten million dollars from a very powerful man...and then deal with the consequences of their actions over one long night saying goodbye to said town.
The acting and direction (from Harold Ramis) are both top notch, but the real awesomeness in this movie is in its message. "The Ice Harvest" becomes, in essence, the story of morality and dealing with the decisions you've made.
..with or without the original ending.
