Review of The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022) by Jpk — 23 Jun 2022
Wow This Was Abysmal.
After Disney shut down Blue Sky in 2021, They got another studio to do the film. Considering how much I hated Collision Course, My expectations were already extremely low and the trailers seemed to confirm that (The bad animation was a particular red flag) and I instantly knew it was gonna be trash. But the question was, “How bad would it be?” Would it be at least slightly better than Collision Course? Or would it be Emoji Movie levels of insufferable? Welp I saw it in January and… WOW, This was way worse than I expected. Okay but are there any positives? Well it was kinda nice to see Simon Pegg voicing Buck again and Justina Machado‘s performance and character were honestly kinda okay (Still extremely bland however), And Crash & Eddie were a bit less annoying than they were in Collision Course. That’s literally all the positives I have about this film. Now the negatives, The screenplay is about as pretentiously by the numbers and generic as you can get, The animation is f*cking atrocious, The voice acting (Except for Pegg, Machado, and the guys doing Crash and Eddie) is one of the absolute worst I’ve heard, The villain is pathetic and very annoying and makes the dinosaur birds in the 5th film look like Soto in comparison, The characters are blander than toilet paper, And they bastardized Buck again with him being just this ultra bland hero type character. The only reason I’m not giving this pile of sh*t a 0 is only because of the very tiny positives I listed. If you want to see Buck and The Lost World, Just watch Dawn Of The Dinosaurs again instead of this garbage.
