Review of The Hustler (1961) by Sausages M — 11 Apr 2010
There isn't much I can say about this film other than the fact that Newman is magnificent and you should watch it. It's one of the most difficult films I've seen in a very long time- there are no laughs here, not even bitter ones.
It's a tragedy, but it's anti-American Dream, hard-edged, nihilistic, REALISTIC approach to a story is compelling. It's a real hard slog, but definitely worth it.
