Review of The Hustler (1961) by Alex K — 25 Jul 2010
Not what I expected. This is definitely not your typical sports movie. It sorta follows the same pattern of guy is beaten, guy trains, guy wins in the end, but it is interwoven with a surprising amount of narrative complexity and emotional depth.
All the actors are great, and the film is well shot. A good movie.
