Review of The Hustler (1961) by Ken S — 15 May 2012
Paul Newman gives a great performance as Pool Hustler and loser "Fast Eddie" Felson. It is classic cinema, with Newman giving one of the greatest performances of his career, along with Jackie Gleason giving a great reserved performance as Minnesota Fats, as opposed to his more over-the-top comedy characters he is more famous for.
George C. Scott is pretty good as well. It is a great cast in a good story about wining and losing. It's a classic, and it has pretty much earned that status as a great character-based film.
