Review of The Hurricane (1999) by Valéria V — 13 Aug 2012

This movie tried to hard. there was claerly something there but the writteres tired to hard. this could have been a a great movie with a story that would of let you to your feelings but the diolag they wrote for the hurricane was horrible they were trying to hard to make him another malcom x or matrin luther king.

with the dialog they gave him came out and told you how to feel they didnt let the story tell its self and let you find the feelings your self. I was so disapointed when denzel broke character to many times as I dont think he really knew who rubin the hurricane carter was because the writing was trying to make him this poetic, meaningfull character to much.

I think that if the movie had just told the story. denzel would have even had to talk his emotions alone could have lead you to the true meaning. it was like the writter set out to make this oscar movie when if they had just told a story it would have been.

they also could have used the song hurricane way better then the way they did. I also hated the dialog shared between hurricane and the detective, it again was trying to hard they as well came out and told you wiht that realtionship, they ciuld have built it up threw the whole movie especially when the movie was 3 hours long.

within the first 20 minutes I knew how I was suppose to feel, the way they wanted me to at least. which I found was really dull considering the movie was 3 hours long. if it wasnt a tru story I would have written it completely differetn but thats beside that fact.

I was so dissapointed by this movie, I had been singing the bob dylan songs years before I saw it and when I did I was very dissaponted, they sould have done what bob dylan did and thats tell a story.
