Review of The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016) by Matthew B — 21 Apr 2016
In all honesty, this movie could have done somethings better, but I don't think it was as awful as people are making it out to be. The filming, scenery, and filmography were so beautiful. The movie pretty to watch the whole way through.
The actors were good. It was a weird choice to give the two leads accents because that seemed irrelevant, but they acted well. I thought it was a good movie for gender equality because there are actually slightly more women than men in main character roles.
This is cool for a action/adventure movie. They were strong characters and a nice mix of flawed but interesting and sometimes good. They were treated as equal in fighting capabilities. I liked this a lot.
I did think some of the action was a bit unrealistic. Being a rock climber, I always cringe at some of these climbing scenes that would be totally improbable, but it happens. I thought it was a bit unique with doing the before and after.
The plot was very predictable, but it was still fun seeing how it would play out. I liked it much better than the first. I think if someone is interested in seeing it, they shouldn't let these reviews stop them.
Some of them are ridiculous and just don't make sense with the movie I saw and some of them are way harsh. Should you expect it to be the best movie you've ever seen? Probably not. There are some plot holes and moments you'll wonder what was the point of this or why.
But it's overall enjoyable.
