Review of The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016) by Drew M — 22 Apr 2016
My first question about this movie was whether this movie is a sequel or a prequel to ''Snow White and the Huntsman''? The answer is both. The first half hour of the film is a prequel telling us the back story of Eric the huntsman and how he became the person he is now.
The rest of the film is the sequel. Chris Hemsworth is excellent reprising his role of Eric the huntsman. In his story we see his backstory and meet the woman who is his wife(Which he mentions in the 1st film) Sara played by two-time Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain, who also becomes a female huntsman.
The two play lovers and have excellent chemistry. Charlize Theron reprises her role of the evil queen Ravenna. She's a beauty, bad ass, and a scream queen once again, though she doesn't have as much screen time as last time.
Emily Blunt plays the younger sister Freya the ice queen. A woman who's heart is as cold as ice. She's a beauty to watch and look a lot like Elsa from Frozen but not as nice. Big applause to the special affects, production design, and costume design people.
The film is very entertaining with a lot of action and female power. Sadly what hurt this film is the writing, which is just weak. The film is not boring, but could've been better. Maybe Snow White should've been in this film.
Overall an entertaining film. My grade=81%(B).
