Review of The Huntsman: Winter's War (2016) by Spencer K — 23 Apr 2016
Was a sequel to Snow White and The Huntsman necessary? definitely not. did I still have a lot of fun with it? yes. yes, I did. the only reason I was interested in seeing this was because of Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain.
they're three of the best actresses working today and all of them in one movie together, I was in. Jessica Chastain was good as the warrior even if her accent was a little obnoxious. I thought Emily Blunt could've been better.
she was kind of emotionless and her reasoning for her things she did was kinda dumb. I just don't think she was the right choice to play this character. and just like the first movie, Charlize Theron was my favorite thing about the whole movie.
she kills it in this role again and I thought she was bad ass again. Chris Hemsworth was fine. the costumes and the set pieces were beautiful, too. the middle part where they meet the dwarfs drag a little, but it picks up at the last 20-30 minutes where Charlize Theron's and Emoly Blunt's characters face off.
honestly, if the whole movie was just those two facing off I would have loved it. overall, it wasn't very necessary but I still had fun with it.
