I don't remember much from the previous Snow White but I do remember enjoying the fresh, gritty and action packed take of a classic fairytale. With all these remakes floating about its probably best to add a dose of decent action to the story and it seems to be the trend nowadays.

This prequel was no exception. The action is good but maybe a little too fast which made it a little confusing or hard to keep up with what was going on. Slo-mo hints well to what's about the happen and then it's all rushed again. It certainly makes up for the linear plot line which is totally predictable but doesn't ruin the enjoyment. Like going back on your favourite roller coaster. You know where the ride is going but enjoy it nonetheless.

Strong usual cast with Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain replacing Kristen Stewart (great trade if you ask me) Nick Frost reprising the comic relief but with Rob Brydon at this side this time. I don't think there was enough of the typical gags and the story could survive with them both being cut all together. Charlize Theron was amazing as usual, playing that most wicked queen Ravenna. Blunt is chillingly stunning as the cold hearted but Theron out shines her with all that glitter and gold.

Reminded me a lot of Willow, not that I'm suggestion a remake. But Hemsworth would make a great Madmartigan, Theron a better Queen Bavmorda and Chastain a Sorcha. Downside Frost and Brydon and you have the Brownies, only missing the Ufgood himself.

It's pretty and not overloaded, the sets and costume designed are what you would expect which unfortunately results in the lack of any wow factor. There's isn't one, no wow at all but the film. The score isn't noticeable which is a shame for James Newton Howard but Halsey's 'Castle' is a great song, the same one from the trailer.

We've seen it all before and nothing outstanding apart from Theron's smaller performance even with the silly accents and Liam Neeson narrative; yet it's still enjoyable and good entertainment. Worth a watch and recommended to fans of SnowWhite.
