Review of The Hunter (1980) by Stephen C — 24 Jun 2012
Steve McQueens last film is something odf a curates eggs ,its not totally awful yet its not exactly top grade action fodder either .
The thing that saves the film Is McQueen who is one fine form here as Ralph Papa Thorson a bounty hunter who cant drive and has problems bringing in his quarrys.
The film has some genuine laughs as we see Thorson attempting to park his car and scrapping metal in the process ,and his sparring with Eli Wallach is fun to watch as well.
Their are some nifty action sequences but the film does lack a central focus with the story tying itself up in knots and leaving loads of plot threads dangling.
A bit of dud then but compared to some action pictures it passes the time .
