Review of The Hunt for Red October (1990) by J Chris J — 25 Aug 2012
It is hard to find a better, well thought out and executed action / suspense thriller that is not only intelligent in its idea but to have such a stellar cast bring that to fruition as well is something else entirely.
Thus is the masterpiece that is Tom Clancy's book of the same name's big screen adaptation. The casting of Sir Sean Connery as Soviet Sub Commander Ramius & a young Alec Baldwin play CIA analyst Jack Ryan (though a part of me wishes to see how Harrison Ford would have done - though he did play a Soviet skipper in K19 - The Widowmaker later on) this film has to fantastic leads with a stellar supporting cast including my personal favorite character actors, Sam Neill & Tim Curry.
A timeless film that still holds a viewer enthralled, this film bears my rare 5 Star seal and comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
