Review of The Hunt for Red October (1990) by Julio B — 05 Aug 2011
I really like this film. When it was released, I especially enjoyed seeing the underwater sequences on the big screen. Some of the dialogue has made it into our family conversations..."Ruskies don't take a dump without a plan, son" and "It runs home to Mama" are two which spring to mind.
My favourite character is Jonesy. I always hoped that he would be resurrected in another story just because I really like the way he tackles problems. This is one of those films you can see over and over and always find something different that you didn't see before.
On the last viewing I realized that the Russian Captain straps himself into his seat right after instructing his crew to run the canyon at a higher speed than usual. Super film. One of my favourites.
