Review of The Hunt for John Wilkes Booth (2007) by Charlie G — 12 Feb 2010
Well-researched documentary about the persons and events involved in the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. At this point in history the President was poorly protected from attacks and dangers.
The Civil War has ended just a few days earlier but some southern sympathizers still violently despised Lincoln and considered him a dictator that needed removed! John Wilkes Booth personally assassinated Lincoln, but had accomplices charged with simultaneously killing Vice President Johnson and Secretary of State Seward.
These assassins were of the opinion that removing the top level of government would paralyze the government and win more southern sympathizers. But they were in for a big surprise at the violent backlash of sympathy for Lincoln and his grieving family!
