Review of The Hunt (2013) by Kevin R — 08 Jul 2015
I don't think children lie. Not in that way.
A single male kindergarten teacher is in a custody battle with his ex-wife to spend more time with his son. He lives close to his best friend who is married with a wife, son and daughter. He teaches at the daughter's school and often walks her home with his dog. One day she kisses him and he has to gently set expectations with them playing. She tells the principle at the school that she touched the kindergarten teacher's penis. His world is unjustly turned upside down.
"Look into my eyes. What do you see? There is nothing.".
Thomas Vinterberg, director of The Celebration, The Biggest Heroes, The Third Lie, Submarino, and Far From the Madding Cry, delivers The Hunt. The storyline for this picture is well written and so dramatic and well executed by the staff. The cast delivers better than anticipated performances and includes Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Bo Larsen, and Alexandra Rapaport.
"I'm going to cry again.".
I have become a fan of Mads Mikkelsen and came across this on Netflix and added it to the queue. I did thoroughly enjoy this picture. I thought the main character was delivered perfectly. This movie is very well done in a The Woodsman kind of way.
"They're saying you've been nasty to me.".
Grade: B.
