Review of The Hunt (2013) by Syed Javed S — 08 Jul 2013
In a way, the ideal christmas movie. It would seem that it does matter if children are naughty or nice, as their choices do affect the adults they are associated with. This is an excellent character study with a great analysis on the citizens of this town that end up turning on one of their own under suspicion that he is a pedophile.
The acting all around is very natural and the Mads Mikkelsen brings an unique level of humanity and sympathy to his role. The film acts as a great fable, a cautionary tale for all of us to always investigate the full truth before we end up making the wrong decision.
It is also a satire, I think, of the lengths people will go to lie and pretend that they are incapable of making a mistake, and how quickly they change behaviour. This is a masterpiece, and one of the best adult dramas ever made.
