Mikkelsen delivers a haunting and lowkey performance that plays against his physical assets. Vingerberg excels again with an unflinching story of how a child's petulance can destroy a man's life, kind of the flip side of his 1998 masterpiece, The Celebration, in which the silence around abuse is finally broken.
