Review of The Hunt (2013) by Jon P — 29 Jun 2014
Offering a fascinating exploration of persecution, intolerance and injustice, Thomas Vinterberg's tender drama is slice-of-life's-worst-nightmare filmmaking at its most balanced and it's very best.
Mads Mikkelsen is gripping as the sweet small town man suffocated by the outward spiral of the Chinese whisper effect and alienated in the face of adversity, yet Vinterberg's film is much bigger than this one man's struggle, thematically and philosophically rich and intoxicating throughout. The fragility and impressionability of the child's mind, pitched against the power of the child's word, is a terrible, terrible, terrifying thing. A truly unique thriller.
