Review:

Man, this film was boring! It really was a disappointing ending to a decent franchise because I was waiting for the big showdown between Snow and Katniss. The whole running around in the dark concept, whilst trying to get to the palace, also became quite boring after a while and I personally thought that Katniss was quite useless when it came to planning and executing the whole plan. It was basically Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), who ran the whole mission but as Katniss was the "face of the people", she got all the credit but she never would have survived if it wasn't for her trusty squad, who done all of the hard work. Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), also got on my nerves because he didn't know if he was coming or going most of the time. I did like the black tar looking substance scene but the battle with the strange looking monsters was hard to follow because it was filmed in darkness, so I didn't know who was who. Anyway, after such a big build up, it definitely was a disappointing ending to the whole franchise and I missed the Katniss song, "The Hanging Tree", which I couldn't stop singing after watching Mockingjay 1. Disappointing!

Round-Up:

I personally think that this movie made so much money at the box office because of the big build up from Mockingjay 1, which promised a great showdown between Snow and Katniss. With Hunger Games: Catching Fire, making nearly $900million at the box office and Mockingjay 1 making $800million, there obviously was something missing in this movie which didn't go down to well with audiences around the world. With that aside, it definitely was a successful franchise which has made Jennifer Lawrence, 25, a superstar and with the X-Men franchise and an Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook in 2013, she has definitely had a great run since her career started in 2008. Anyway, the movie was directed by Francis Lawrence, 45, who started his career in making pop videos for Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson, Green Day and Britney Spears and then he turned his talents to the movie world with Constantine in 2005 and I Am Legend in 2007. After making a Lady Gaga video in 2009, he directed Water For Elephants and then he started his run of Hunger Games movies, with Catching Fire in 2013 and both Mockingjay movies, which were made back to back. Maybe if he had concentrated on this movie as an individual project, it would have been better! It's still worth a watch because it is the final instalment of a successful franchise but if I would have seen the final product in the cutting room, I would have suggested a rewrite.

Budget: $160million.

Worldwide Gross: $655million.

I recommend this movie to people who are into their adventure/sci-fi movies starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Julianne Moore, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci and Gwendoline Christie. 4/10.
