I am not a fan of the "split the last book into two parts to rake in extra cash" mentality currently running through Hollywood. That said this could be worse. It is paced decently and never felt to me like things were just being dragged out to make the two movies work.
Having read the books, I know there is still plenty of story to tell, and this one, while light on the action, has plenty of build up to lead me to believe that the final film in this series will be pretty solid.
Could this have been made into one stronger film? Absolutely, but as the first half of a book adaptation it could've been a lot less entertaining.
