Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Ildefonso M — 29 Mar 2015
On paper the film should be getting an applause. On screen Katniss can't-missin' just sort of stops dazzling us. I can only compare it to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the "oh wow, that looks cool" moments are nowhere at all. Shaky cam action, cut to silent-deaf-ear upon gunfire (thanks Spielberg), cue the beautiful Lawrence to wrap up nearly every scene with the well deserved tears.
You can't have the numbness and bury it too.
