Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Nino N — 23 May 2015
I finally saw the movie last night on demand. Pretty bad movie. Disjointed narrative. It is more of a collection of scenes than an actual movie. It is overly dramatic, soap-opera like. Jennifer Lawrence spends most of the movie crying or about to cry, or just has cried, or whatever.
The movie is supposed to tell the story about the cruel president Snow who unleashes unspeakable suffering on the masses but somehow we fail to connect with this suffering. Maybe because the masses are reduced to a fuzzy background for Jennifer's tears.
Overall, the movie is a mess. I liked the first one. Since then it has been a steady deterioration. I paid $2 to see the movie but it was not worth it. I want my money back.
