Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Hollie B — 31 Jul 2015
This is an example of films that weren't meant to be stretched into two separate films but were. In this film, I saw Jennifer Lawrence really try to force her character when it seems unnatural in some scenes, yet she mostly gives a solid performance.
The biggest problem that I had with the film was the focus on Peeta. Peeta seemed like the most unimportant character in the entire franchise, mostly due to what happened in the first of the Hunger Games series.
When it seems so obvious why it's so important for Peeta to be living in the film, I had no clue why. I did enjoy him in Catching Fire, and saw potential in his character, but he seemed so unimportant in Part 1.
I'm hoping Part 2 will be more revealing. Why does she love him? Why does she need him? What is so important about him?
