Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Movie1997 — 25 Nov 2014
Sadly, this was the weakest Hunger Games film to date, but there are still things to enjoy about this film. I really loved all the performances! The action scenes (while very few) were so cool to watch.
But the ending is what really shocked me! Don't worry, I won't spoil anything just in case you haven't seen it. But the isn't without its flaws. Some people really dug the propaganda story element. Personally, it felt over-used and felt like a gimmick throughout the film.
That was probably the biggest problem with the entire film, the propaganda stuff felt like it loss sight of the character of Katniss. I couldn't root for this character because she's basically being used to promote great propaganda messages when in reality she doesn't even want a war.
It didn't even feel like a big war was going on. In the end, propaganda flooded this entire film, the first act of the film was slow and un-engaging, but eventually picks itself right back up about halfway through the film and delivered an awesome climax that took me by surprise.
