If you've read the books, you already know going into this latest installment it will be a downer. There are no more games, so the movie focuses on the interplay between Katniss and the Capital, and trying to get the remaining districts on board with the rebellion.
The installment is very faithful to the book, and the look and feel was exactly as I pictured it when I read it. As a stand alone film it may not be successful, but who wants to watch one film in the middle of a series without watching the rest of the series? Personally I was never bored watching it.
A little depressed, maybe, but The Hunger Games is not an uplifting series to begin with. Jennifer Lawrence was stellar as usual, and carries the entire film. I also liked Julianne Moore as President Coin and Elizabeth Banks as Effie.
Women actors are really dominating this series. The look of the film is also terrific. If you read the books I think you will enjoy this latest installment.
