Review of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) by Brutus54 — 03 Dec 2014
Fairly tedious, and a bit of a disappointment after Catching Fire. Not much happens. Basically everyone hides down a hole while the facility gets bombed. Yawn. Moderately interesting political sub-plot though, and reasonable performances from Moore and Lawrence.
Hoffman's performance mostly consists of eye rolling and implied tension about something or other - presumably this will be revealed in the next movie. Darkly filmed (ie mostly down a hole) and variably directed.
Hard not to agree with other's perceptions that the principal focus here is on extending the movie franchise to allow for more extended wallowing in teenage angst.
