Deeper, darker and fuller than it's predecessor, The Hunger Games has almost gone all political. And that's a good thing.
Battle Royale reruns are traded for an air of escalating dread in this sour second instalment. The film spits satire at sensationalist TV talent shows and, for want of a better expression, opens up a can of fleshy plot worms.
As unease ensues and chaos masks the horizon, this world suddenly starts to look bigger than before and, from here on in, things can only continue get more interesting. Shame about the garbled final act, mind. It stinks of rushed adaptation.
