Review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) by Andrew W — 28 Jul 2014
I never expected to like The Hunger Games but the first movie surprised me with a great story and not as full to the brim of teen-friendly cheese as I expected.
The second movie builds on the solid foundations of the first movie to deliver a darker, grittier movie (the birds that delivered the screams of their loved ones was a brilliant and very sinister threat) which I felt moved a little away from it's intended target audience of teenagers which for me was a positive thing because I found more things to enjoy in this one. The budgets are bigger, the threats are bigger and the cliff hanger ending has left me craving the next movie; Mockingjay.
