This film is such a complex social satire of our society. This film is very intelligent. I never thought I would see a action film that so openly condemns the over exposer of violence in our culture. The direct parallels between the capital absurdity and Hollywood are great.
Panem is Latin for bread and circus a term used in Rome to expression people turning a blind eye to politics and being utterly distracted by lavished holidays, shows, games (often fighting to death), and feasts.
It tries to express that this has become America.
