Review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) by M. C — 13 Nov 2014
How these movies manage to garner any good reviews is a testament to the low depths the film industry has sunk to. Catching Fire is confusing, repetitive and appears to be desperately trying to cling to the best parts of the last movie while buying time for the eventual finale.
Of course, Lawrence turns in an acceptable performance but that can't save this convoluted mess of a sequel that misses all the best portions of the book and fails to achieve any more than the average young adult fantasy movie.
Finally, like all of the worst book adaptations, Catching Fire ends up highlighting all of the glaring inconsistencies and illogical moments of Collins original books, instead of using the power of cinema to highlight the better moments.
Catching Fire is not engaging and is not worth your time.
