Review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) by Joochan L — 28 Nov 2014
VAST improvement over the first film which I found boring! This second installment has action, drama, suspense, and at last most of the Tributes fighting on the island are adults. With a bigger budget, director Francis Lawrence along with the cast delivers a great performance during the 75th Hunger Games.
Alliances are made, and Katniss (J. Lawrence) must walk a fine line between truths and lies. Josh Hutcherson returns as Peeta Mellark and Liam Hemsworth a.k.a. hunk plays Gale Hawthorne- the man Katniss loves.
The most despicable characters are President Snow (D. Sutherland), Caesar Flickerman (A. Tucci), CDR Thread (P. St. Esprit), Effie Trinket (E. Banks). All those people look ridiculous in flamboyant outfits, excessive makeup and vanity.
But this second installment has redeemed itself and like I said, way better than the first one. If you really want to see teens fight to the death without the ridiculous attires and shallow characters then watch Battle Royale.
Overall I do recommend Catching Fire and the best part: available in glorious HD on Netflix instant streaming. Cheers!
