Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Andrew K — 03 Apr 2014
As one of only 17 people left on this planet who hasn't read one word of Suzanne Collins' trilogy, my only preconceived notion for this flick was the hype. A lot of it. And too much hype usually sends me from the theater with unmet expectations.
But not with this movie! In fact, I think the less you know about this plot the better off you'll like it. My lack of foreknowledge allowed me to sit back, wait, and let the movie come to me. It effortlessly combines drama, suspense and survival like kids with a magnifying glass and black ants on a hot, summer afternoon.
And who doesn't like an underdog? Grade: A.
