Review of The Hunger (1983) by Ella R — 24 Dec 2008
Slick, stylish, and original 80s vampire film is entertaining despite some dated, cheesy moments. Director Tony Scott brings an extraordinary visual sense, though his commercial background is all to evident - at times the film resembles an expensive perfume ad.
Appropriately moody performances from Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon is good as always. Maybe it is an exercise in style over substance, but this is one of the more memorable vampire films out there.
