Review of The Hunger (1983) by Nathan M — 07 Oct 2012
With an emphasis on style and visual poetry over story, The Hunger is an interesting entry in the vampire film anthology. Sensual and viscerally restrained, the film focuses on the cycles that continue in a life, even an immortalâ(TM)s.
The primary drawback is 1980s sound effects and sound mixing that is detrimental from time to time. However, Scottâ(TM)s background as a painter shines through, the striking visuals easily outpacing the somewhat simple story and make the film a worthwhile watch.
