Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Jasmine F — 23 Aug 2014
I expected this movie to be in the genre of the funny and slightly silly British ensemble comedy, but was pleasantly surprised. This is a sophisticated story, with an outstanding cast, led by Helen Mirren, and with luscious cinematography.
It's humour was clever and contextual, but it never distracted from the central theme of the love of food and cooking. Whilst marvellously uplifting and entertaining, the main thing it left me was a hunger for some aromatic and spicy food.
(For which I should thank Rena's Kitchen at Erindale, in Adelaide's eastern suburbs, for satisfying me after the movie).
