Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Jan M — 23 Aug 2014
Beautifully and lushly shot. Joyous and gentle. The clash of cultures is wonderfully rendered, as is the fall out from xenophobia. The food is carefully and lovingly filmed. I suggest you go on a very full stomach or bring lots of napkins for drooling into.
I loved the strength and dignity that both Helen Mirren and Om Puri brought to their characters; quite frankly their romance was almost more interesting than that of Dayal and Le Bon, almost.
