Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Kirk C — 23 Aug 2014
A perfectly nice film, especially for foodies. that being said, if you've read the book and are a purist about these sorts of things, you shouldn't see it. I understand that filmmakers must often make decisions other than those of literary authors.
And, as I suspected prior to seeing the movie, they short change the beginning and end of the story to serve the central portion. that I can understand. but then they go on to make many, many changes.
some are merely cosmetic but many make fundamental alterations in the plot and in the characters' depiction and motivations. all in all, for me, it works as a movie, but it in a way that is much less complex and interesting than the book.
