Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Meredith R — 29 Aug 2014
The Hundred Foot Journey is about an Indian family that moves to France in hopes of making a life there and continuing in the restaurant business. They happen to move in across the street from a restaurant, run by the rather inimical Madame Mallory.
This film is gorgeously shot and foodies will adore it. The director uses a light touch and the script has lots of little zingers in it exchanged between Madame Mallory and Papa (the patriarch of the Indian family).
As someone who cooks I was fascinated in the brilliance of how chefs put flavors together to create something extraordinary for discerning palates. Overall, this is a lovely movie, with few surprises, but still highly enjoyable.
