Oh, Hundred Foot Journey, you had me at garam masala. Yes, you are slightly Disney in your storyline, but I love your hero, your contrasts, and your obscenely rich food porn. And I love your grumpy, tunnel-visioned, hard bargaining Indian papa played by Om Puri, whose performance surprises as much as an expertly made samosa.

You are a guilty pleasure, Journey, and for which my adoration would best be kept from the polite company of my more sophisticated, snobby cinephile acquaintances, but you are a pleasure nonetheless.
