Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Ian G — 23 Nov 2014

A slightly older school foodie film that has some similarities to Chocolat (having come from the same director) and the Exotic Marigold Hotel, focusing on an immigrating East Indian family as the bounce around Europe looking for a place to pursue their dreams of opening an Indian restaurant, and by happenstance they stumble u[pon a small french town where they set up roots against a long established and high profile restaurant run by Helen Mirren.

Little do they know how it will effect their family dynamic and make a rock star out of their son Hassan as her forms an unlikely friendship and mentorship with Mirren. Beautifully shot and solidly acted even not a gamechanger.

Probably edged out by Chef and its more interesting angle from earlier in the summer.
