Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Eric H — 04 Dec 2014
Helen Mirren really carries this movie, with a strong performances from Charlotte Le Bon and Om Puri. The way that food is shown is enough to make anyone hungry, but that can only carry a movie so far.
What I thought would be the main conflict was resolved after an hour or so, and that was when the movie slowed down. I believe many books fall victim to this problem, wherein the last third of the movie doesn't engage the viewers because they don't know as much about the characters as they would have if they had read the book.
Regardless, if you can overlook the weak third of the movie, it is an enjoyable feel-good movie The story is pretty clichéd and the acting isn't amazing, but the movie is still a nice watch thanks to the music by academy award winner AR Rahman.
