Star-crossed lovers ending up on opposite and competing camps - Check. Fish out of water alienation dramedy - Check. Clash of cultures, set in Euro-fantasy land where Nigel Farage would approve (god, the locals speak French accented English with each other!) - Check.

Spiritual, foodie, romantic drama: this film blends all of the above into one bite-size chunk that sadly leaves only a mild and flavourless taste afterwards, to keep the food analogy going here. Mirren is watchable but awkward playing the French cousin of the Queen and Hallstrom is hardly challenging himself (or inspired) by repeating his previous work here.
