Review of The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) by Mloy X — 28 Mar 2015
Mansur(Amit Shah): So I guess the cooking is now down to me.
Papa (Om Puri): Yes, mister.
Mansur(Amit Shah): Oh, God!
Papa (Om Puri): What do you mean, "Oh, God"?
It should come as no surprised that Helen Mirren (Madame Mallory) was (is) awesome, but as good as her performance was Manish Dayal (Hasaan) was no doubt the center of the film and he played his part brilliantly. He and Charlotte Le Bon (who played Marguerite) had beautiful on scene chemistry. Om Puri (Papa) was also wonderful, but everyone did a really great job in this film. This was definitely a Disney-esque feel good flick, pretty predictable but it was still entertaining. Visually, the film was very vibrant and gorgeous and the food... oh, the food...it was, well porn. It's a darn shame we don't have smell-a-vision or maybe that's a good thing.
