Review of The Human Stain (2003) by Jennifer T — 21 Apr 2012
It seems to me, while reading reviews in here, that people nowadays can't stand to take their time to let a good story unfold at its own pace... while many here consider that the movie went back and forth and some scenes didnt make sense at all to them, I do fully believe our minds work in such exact way... our memories go back and forth not just in time and space but from images to smells, emotions, sounds, sensations, words said, thoughts never revealed and impressions or judgements that only took place inside ourselves but that in the very end conform the whole experience as lived by one person. That might be why every story has more than one viewpoint because we are all contributing our own beings to it. I dont know about the rest of viewers of this movie, some might be much more linear than I am, but that's exactly what I loved most about this film.
Well, Hopkins, Sinise, Kidman and Miller undoubtedly gave a great performance and the music carried that melancholy we all feel when looking at our own lives in retrospect as we do dance throughout its chapters.
