Review of The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009) by Clay C — 07 Dec 2012
I hate that this has gained such a reputation when movies like Inside or The Loved Ones go unnoticed; this isn't half as shocking or impressive as Tom Six seems to think it is. I'm glad that Six found a way to keep the actors from delivering more horrendous dialogue, because the first few scenes feature some of the most unbeareable overacting I've ever seen.
Normally, I'm more than willing to suspend disbelief for characters' behaviors, especially in horror movies, but this one stands out as a shitstorm of stupidity that just makes me think I wasted my time.
I wouldn't have watched this if not for a paper, and I'm starting to think that avoiding it entirely would have been the right decision. I love gory horror films and appreciate well-done nastiness, but this is just gimmickry with zero rewarding factors.
