Review of The Human Centipede (First Sequence) (2009) by Richard D — 18 Jul 2015
I hate this film. It has nothing to do with it's concept. The concept is half-baked, but I can imagine a decent film being based on it. This isn't it. No thought or care was put into writing this film.
After the basic concept occurred to Tom Six and he got a freaky actor to play his doctor, no effort appears to have been put into constructing a plot. All of the protagonists behave unrealistically stupid pretty much just to advance the action to whatever scene Six wants to do next.
The result is that nobody could conceivably care about these victims, and the film pretty much sympathizes only with the cruelty committed by its mad doctor. That's reprehensible, and worthy only of scorn.
